Ringmaking by the Sea

Koru Rings with Red Gold by Deanna Gracie. (These are not our wedding rings!)

Today we drove out to Southshore, to the studio of Deanna Gracie, who designed and made Megan’s engagement ring late last year.  Our happy task on this visit was to discuss the design for our wedding rings (not pictured at right!).  You can see some of the other rings Deanna has recently made on commission here.

It was great to see the studio in which Deanna makes her jewellery, including the new display cabinet in which she had set up some rings for us to see.

While we’ll wait until the day itself to reveal the designs we chose (the two rings you see in the picture are different examples of her ring-making), you may wish to see more of Deanna’s work in the exhibition at the Connexion Gallery in a series called Shape, at the Arts Centre this month.

We’re really glad to have found a designer whose work expresses such a connection with the local environment, the flora and stories and memories that contribute to our sense of Aotearoa, to make something we hope to wear for the rest of our lives.
